perkins panda early literacy program

The "Perkins Panda" program is a character-based Early Literacy Program for families of children who are blind or visually-impaired. In planning our design, we knew that our creations needed to be appropriate for visually impaired/blind pre-school children and appeal emotionally and practically to parents and other caregivers. The result: we created the lovable look of the Perkins Panda bear. We art directed, designed, and illustrated a charming set of storybooks to give children an entertaining and developmentally-appropriate way to be more comfortable with themselves, and their immediate and greater worlds. We used chunky graphics, texture, and a progressively sophisticated palette to create a unique look for each of the books. We translated that to the entire program including activity guides, cassette inserts, and the overall packaging.
